Description

Felton House is a late 17th-century farmhouse, later divided into three flats. It was altered in 1742, a date recorded on a datestone on the right-hand range. The building is constructed of squared and coursed dressed stone, with flush rusticated stone quoins, surrounds to openings, and copings. It has double Roman tile roofs. The layout is L-shaped, with a porch set into the angle of the building. It is two storeys high. The windows in the right-hand range, which runs parallel to the road, are ovolo-moulded cross-mullion windows; those on the ground floor have flush relieving arches. Continuous string courses run at the first floor level and below the eaves. The gable-headed, two-storey porch has an apex finial. A range set at a right angle has similar 17th-century string courses but features 16-pane sashes to the outer bay, a 12-pane sash to the ground floor beside the porch, and a blind window above. There is an offset doorway with a moulded architrave doorcase featuring an open pediment, fluted Doric columns, and a six-panel door. Several tall ridge stacks are present; some are rendered, while others are stone with moulded caps. The west facade includes a projecting three-storey bay with 19th-century segmental-headed windows. A sundial with the date 1684 is also present. The interior is not accessible.
