Description
The gatehouse, gates, mounting block, and wall running south for approximately 20 metres are the remains of a structure from the 14th or 15th century. It is built of coursed rubble with freestone dressings. The gatehouse features a double chamfered, segmental headed carriage archway beneath an ogee mould, alongside a simple chamfered pedestrian entrance. The gates have been restored, likely in the 19th century. To the south, there is a low wall that projects out, featuring a mutilated shield corbel that ends in a large mounting block with six steps. A later coursed rubble wall extends southward from this point.
