Description

The main block of Walliscote Junior School, dated 1897 and designed by Hans Price, was formerly known as the Board Schools. This building showcases an exuberant Dutch Baroque style, constructed from limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and topped with a tiled roof. It features a two-storey set back main block that is elaborately designed, including a scroll, a pediment, consoles, a date-stone, and a balustraded parapet with a cupola. The structure has two gabled two-storey end pavilions that are gabled on all four sides, connected by single-storey gabled blocks leading to the central entrance. The entrance is marked by a large flattened arch, and the rear of the building is designed in a similar style.
