Description

The Great House is a 17th-century house with an 18th-century rear wing, constructed of ashlar, brick, and chequered flint and stone. It has a gabled, thatched roof with brick stacks positioned to the right and left of the front door. The house is symmetrical, featuring a two-story, three-window range on the front elevation. The upper floor has four-light casement windows with glazing bars. The ground floor contains 19th-century three-light sash windows. A weathered string course runs along the facade. Interior features documented by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (RCHM) include a six-panel ceiling with deep chamfered, intersecting ceiling beams; an open fireplace; and a 17th-century staircase with moulded close strings, square newel posts, moulded handrails, and turned balusters. It is listed for its group value.
