Description
The Church of St John the Baptist is a chapel of ease that may have medieval origins, although it was extensively rebuilt in 1856 and restored in 1899. The building features rough ashlar stone with ashlar dressings and has a roof made of tiles and stone slates. A west-gable bellcote, dated 1839, is present. The church has a simple rectangular plan in the Perpendicular style. The pointed east window consists of three lights and is set under a stopped label. The north wall includes two two-light square-headed windows, while the south wall features a pointed two-light square-headed window to the east and two single-light square-headed windows to the west, which flank a pointed, roll-moulded doorway. Inside, the roof is a ribbed, plastered barrel vault. Fittings have been removed.
