Description
The Church of St Thomas is a parish church built in 1859 by architects Evans and Pullan, with the chancel designed by E. Christian. It features rubble walls topped with a gabled, tiled roof and an end bell-cote, along with stone copings at the west and a greensand plinth. The layout includes a nave, chancel, and a south porch. The windows are lancets throughout, with the west window consisting of five graduated lancets and the east window featuring three graduated lancets. The church has corner pilaster type buttresses. The porch has an outer two-centred arch with two chamfered orders supported by half-columns with capitals and bases, while the inner door has a two-centred chamfered head. Inside, there is a late 12th century or early 13th century font with a circular bowl and a 19th century stem and base, along with other 19th century fittings.
