Description

The Duke of Albany Public House is an early 19th-century building with a late 19th-century public house frontage located on Park Street in Weymouth. It features a rendered exterior and a slate roof. The structure is three storeys high with three windows, including 6-pane sashes at the eaves above bowed oriels with 8:12:8 panes.

The ground floor is divided into two sections. On the left, beneath a continuous hood with a moulded edge supported by deep consoles on pilasters, there are two 3-light casements with a transom, where the upper lights consist of small panes. To the right, there is a door, and on the corner to the left, a pair of glazed doors with a transom and side-lights, with the splayed entry matching that of the Prince of Wales Public House across the street. The stall riser is made of dark green glazed brick, which is also used in other parts of the public house frontage. Above the splay, the corner rises squarely.

To the right, where the former No. 53 is located, there is a 4-pane 19th-century display window featuring slender column mullions and flat elliptical heads above the lights, along with a slight fascia that stops at small consoles. In a recessed arch at the extreme right, there is a 20th-century door. The left return to Bath Street has two 16-pane sashes on the first floor, above a continuation of the public house frontage, with a door centred between 3-light casements and a one-bay extension that is one storey high. The back of the building has 6-pane sashes on the top floor. The interior has not been inspected.
