Description

The Handleigh Monument is a table-tomb located in the churchyard, 6 metres north-east of the porch of the Church of St Mary in Batcombe. It dates from the early 18th century and is made of stone, featuring plain sides and end blocks, a moulded cornice, and a hipped top block. The tomb has a capital-letter inscription that reads, "Here lyeth the Body of John Handleigh who died ye 2nd Day of July Ano 1712."
