Description
Valentine Cottages is a cottage located in Lydlinch, with the right range dating from the 17th century or earlier, while the left cross wing appears to be from the mid-19th century. The building features a timber frame, cob, and whitewashed brick construction. The earlier range has a half-hipped thatched roof, and the cross wing has a gabled asbestos slate roof. There are brick stacks positioned at the left of the early range and at the center of the cross wing.
The early range is a single storey with an attic and has irregular fenestration, while the later range is two storeys. The facade of the early range includes a single fixed leaded-light window on the left, which is set in a blocked doorway. The center features a three-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars, and to the right is a two-light casement window, also with horizontal glazing bars. Above this is a single three-light dormer window. The left-hand range has a three-light 20th-century casement window with horizontal glazing bars under a segmental arch. There is probably a 19th-century tiled, gabled porch located at the right gable.
