Description
Church Farm House is a detached farmhouse dating to the late 16th and early 17th centuries, with extensions added in the 18th century. The house is constructed of rubble stone walls with a stone slate roof, and features brick end and centre stacks. The original design comprised a single storey and attic, with a 20th-century timber porch featuring a gabled tiled roof on the front. A ledged door provides access to the house. The ground floor has four casement windows with glazing bars, and the attic has one similar window in the eaves, alongside a pent-roofed dormer with a matching casement. A 20th-century conservatory has been added to the rear.
The main ground floor room has a large, partially reconstructed open fireplace, complete with a timber lintel and a bread oven. A stone bearing a fragment of inscription is positioned above the fireplace; this is akin to the inscription found in the west wall of the nearby Church tower. During work on the fireplace, further fragments were discovered, one incorporating the name "William Bennet," and these have since been re-set within the fireplace. The room also features some exposed ceiling beams.
A front boundary wall of stone, punctuated by stone piers, runs along the property.
