Description

Woodlands is a detached house, now used as a school boarding-house. The property comprises a 17th-century north range and an early 19th-century south block. It has stone walls, rendered externally, and slate roofs with a tile ridge. Brick stacks are located at the left-hand gable and on the right-hand roof hips.

The north range is two storeys high and has four windows. It features two four-light stone mullion windows; the left-hand window retains a label, while the right-hand window is a 20th-century replacement. The remaining windows are two and three-light wooden casements. The south block, dating from the 19th century, is also two storeys high and includes cellars. It has three windows with sash glazing-bars and wooden cills. A large, square, rendered porch with a flat top projects from the front, and the front door has two panels and marginal glazing-bars above. The garden front features two four-light French windows with marginal glazing-bars, a glass-topped verandah supported by iron columns, and upper-storey windows of a French-window style with marginal glazing-bars. There are also three iron balconies supported by brackets.
