Description
Barton Cottages are two attached cottages located at the rear of nos. 1 and 2 on the south side of Main Road in Winterborne St Martin. They date from the late 18th century and were refenestrated in the 20th century. The cottages feature walls made of flint and chalk rubble, topped with a thatched roof that has a gable end facing south. There are brick stacks on the south gable and at the center of the ridge. The buildings are 1½ storeys and 2 storeys high, with a total of five windows that are casements with glazing bars. No. 4 has two eyebrow dormers with two lights each. The doors on the east elevation include a plank and muntin door for no. 3 and a plank and muntin door for no. 4, both from the 20th century. Each doorway is sheltered by a thatched porch canopy.
