Description
Hill View and Whitegates are two attached cottages dating from the mid-18th century. They feature rubble-stone sleeper walls with red brick walls above, laid in Flemish bond, and some burnt headers. The cottages have an asbestos slate roof with gable ends and a tiled ridge, along with three brick stacks—one at each gable and one on the front wall eaves at the center, all of which have been renewed. The buildings are two storeys high and have a five-window range, with wooden casements that include glazing bars and 20th-century metal casements. The windows have wooden cills and lintels. The front doors consist of a 20th-century wooden door with six glass panels on the left (Hill View) and a plank door with a wooden lintel on the right. The cottages are included for their group value.
