Description

Manor Farm House is a farmhouse located in Milborne Saint Andrew, likely built on the site of the former Milborne House, which was the residence of the Morton and Morton-Pleydell families. The house was remodeled in 1729 and largely demolished in 1802, with the current structure mainly dating from the 18th century. It features brick walls, some of which are plastered, and has a plat band at the first floor level. The hipped roof has lower courses of stone slates and upper courses of tiles. The brick stacks are irregularly placed, with the original stacks having panelled sides and moulded caps. The building has a U-shaped plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with dormers only on the east front.

The west front has a recessed central section with projecting wings at each end. There are single-storey lean-to additions along the central section and the inner face of the left wing. The lean-to on the central section has a glazed area with an arched, raised panel. Above this lean-to, there is a panelled door on the first floor, three casement windows with glazing bars, and a small plain window. The left wing features a mullioned and transomed casement window with glazing bars in its end wall, along with a blocked window above it. The right wing, which is plastered, has one sash window with glazing bars and a moulded architrave on the ground floor, as well as evidence of earlier blocked windows. The south front is also plastered and includes a part-glazed door in a 20th-century glazed porch and conservatory. The ground floor has two sash windows with glazing bars and moulded architraves, and there are three similar windows on the first floor.

Inside, there is a carved 18th-century fireplace surround in the hall, along with several simpler 18th-century fireplace surrounds. The first floor features two 19th-century ornamental fireplace interiors, some chamfered ceiling beams, and one door with planted carved mouldings.
