Description

SY 78 NW WINTERBORNE CAME

6/108 Stable Building 50 Metres 26.1.56 East of Came House GV II

Stable block. Early C19. Brick walls in English bond, with ashlar stone dressings. Hipped slate roof. The north front has a plain central archway, keyed. This is wooden pedimented over and carried on volutes. There are two lower archways leading to coach houses or blind, either side. The stabling opens off a paved passageway, with plank doors either side. The south front has a central rusticated archway, now partly blocked, and round headed windows which are also repeated on the east side. Two outbuildings of rubble stone with hipped slate roofs, added late C19. Single storey, with plank doors and 2 light casements. (R.C.H.M. Dorset II, p.386 (3)).
