SO5270 Stable block to south-east of 482-1/15/35 Ashford Court

GV II

Stables and coach-house, now stables. Late C18. Brick with hipped slate roof. H-plan. EXTERIOR: 2-storey former coach-house range with single-storey stable wings. Coach-house front is 4-window range of 2-light casements with segmental arches with central pair in advanced bay with gable over. 2 carriage entrances in advanced bay with elliptical brick arches set on ashlar springer stones. Flanking doorways in segmental arched openings; to left is a casement over bricked-up opening, to right a casement over boarded door. Rear: 2 first-floor casements and 3 2-light casements at ground floor with segmental arches. Stable wing fronts: two 2-light casements, with plain boarded doors to inner return sides, with segmental arches. Single casements to sides with 2-light casements to inner return sides at rear. INTERIOR: stalls complete in stable wings.
