Description

Ashford Court, formerly known as Court Farm House, is a house from the late 18th century. It is built of brick on an ashlar plinth and features a hipped slate roof with brick ridge chimneys. The house has a double-pile plan and includes a large 20th-century extension wing on the left side.

The exterior is two storeys high with an attic and presents a front elevation that has a five-window range of 6/6 sash windows, each with painted lintels featuring keystones and stone sills. The entrance is marked by a portico supported by two pairs of Tuscan columns and pilasters, topped with a plain entablature and a parapet. The portico is enclosed with double glazed doors, side lights, and top lights.

On the left return side, part of the wall is covered by the 20th-century extension. The exposed side to the rear has a two-window range of 6/6 sashes. The right return side mirrors the front with a three-window range of 6/6 sashes, but the left window has been replaced by a 19th-century projecting two-storey square bay window, which features a parapet and cornice with large 3-mullion and transom windows. The first-floor sash window to the right is a glazed blind window. All windows are fitted with mechanical roller blinds.

At the rear, there is a four-window range of 6/6 sashes similar to the front, with the left window replaced by a 19th-century projecting bay window like that on the right return. The ground-floor window has been replaced by French windows and is covered by a 19th-century part-glazed veranda. There are also two slate-roofed pedimented dormers with 3/3 sashes. The early 20th-century wing on the left is two storeys high, made of brick, and has a hipped roof with 6/6 sashes on the front. The interior has not been inspected.
