Description

No. 58 High West Street is an early 19th-century building with three storeys and a five-window front made of yellow brick. It features a stucco plinth and string courses, as well as moulded eaves. The slate roof includes dormers, and the building has sash windows, although the glazing bars have been altered. The round-headed doorway has a recessed arch-ring. The plain front is less attractive due to these changes. This property was purchased in 1828 to serve as The Judge's Lodging. It is part of a group that includes Nos. 48 to 65A, the Shire Hall, Holy Trinity Church, the Museum, St. Peter's Church, and a monument to William Barnes located in the churchyard immediately south of the West Tower.
