Description

No. 62 High West Street is a late 18th or early 19th century building of three storeys and an attic. It is constructed of brown brick with red rubbed brick arches to the windows on the second floor. The roof is slate, with dormers, and features an eaves cornice. The building has a good mid-19th century shopfront. The first floor has a projecting three-light bow window resting on the projecting shopfront, with strip pilasters between the bowed sashes and modillion cornices. Two sash windows are located above the bow. The building forms a group with numbers 48 to 65A (consecutive), including the Shire Hall, Holy Trinity Church, the Museum, St. Peter’s Church, and the monument to William Barnes in the churchyard immediately south of the West Tower.
