Description

This is an early or mid-19th century building on the south side of High West Street. It is constructed of colourwashed brick with a slate roof and a parapet. The building is three storeys high with an attic level. The first and second floors feature two bow windows, each with sash windows containing glazing bars. There are two attic dormers. A dentil eaves cornice runs along the building at the level of the second floor. The ground floor has a 19th-century shopfront characterized by iron columns with spirally fluted shafts, foliate capitals, and elaborate foliate brackets. The building forms a group with numbers 13, the Old Ship Public House, numbers 18 and 19, the Royal Oak Public House, numbers 21 to 24, and the Church of Our Lady.
