Description
Lower Bockhampton Bridge is a road bridge, likely built in the early 19th century. It is made of red brick, featuring keystones and piers constructed from Portland stone. The bridge has a triple-arched design with three unequal spans, each featuring a round-headed arch. The central arch spans 14 feet, while the side arches are 10 feet wide. The bases of the Portland stone piers are raised at the outer faces. The parapets, which are topped with rounded brick coping, curve outward at both ends. The upper eight brick courses of the parapet are slightly set back. The road continues a short distance south, elevated on rubblestone walling, leading to a subsidiary bridge that has a brick arch.
