Description

Yalbury Cottage is a detached house, originally two cottages, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is situated in Lower Bockhampton. The house has brick walls built upon a rubble stone base. It is characterised by a hipped thatched roof and a central brick stack. The building is one storey high with an attic. The ground floor has eight casement windows, two of which replaced earlier doors. Some of these casements have cast iron glazing, while others feature matching timber glazing bars. The attic has four half-dormers, each with a casement window and cast iron glazing. An entrance is located in the left-hand end wall. A single-storey rear extension was added in the 20th century. Internally, there are two large open fireplaces with timber lintels and incorporated bread ovens. Some ceiling beams are exposed.
