Description

The gate piers, gates, and front boundary wall to the Church of St Augustine were constructed around 1900. They are made of Portland stone ashlar or rock-faced masonry and feature wrought-iron gates. The central pair of piers measures approximately 0.45 meters square and 2.1 meters high, with panelled fronts, moulded capping, and ball finials. At either end, there are plain low piers with weathered cappings, standing at about 1.5 meters. The walling is built in rock-faced masonry topped with a weathered coping, extending to the end piers. The gates include paired central gates and single end gates, which have twisted spiral rail-heads and dog-bars.
