Description
No. 63 East Knighton is a house dating from the 17th to early 18th century, which includes an attached barn. The house is constructed with brick walls, while the barn is made of cob. It features a thatched roof and a brick chimney. The building has one storey and attics, with a timber lean-to extension on the north side of the barn that has a tiled roof. The barn includes one ledged door, and there is an external brick projection at the junction with the house, likely a bread oven. The walls of the house display a large letter "M" made from dark headers, along with remnants of other ornamental dark header work. There is a ledged door in a reduced opening, and above it are two shallow recesses with arched heads, which may have been blocked windows. A second ledged door is located at the south end of the house. The ground floor features one horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars, while the attic has one half dormer with a similar sash window. The main room on the ground floor includes a large open fireplace with a bread oven.
