Description

Probably dating to the 17th century, Spicer's Cottage and Antherest were originally a single house. The walls are plastered and the roofs are thatched, with a brick stack. The property is one storey high with attics. Number 75 has a single-storey lean-to garage with an asbestos roof on the west side. A stable door is set within a thatched porch. The ground floor features two horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing bars and shutters. Two hipped dormers with casements containing glazing bars are visible in the attic. Inside, the main ground floor room retains a large open fireplace with a timber lintel, although it is partially blocked. Number 76 has a modern glazed door in a tiled porch, and a single casement window with glazing bars on the ground floor. A single hipped dormer, mirroring the window style, sits in the attic. A lean-to extension on the east has plastered walls and a tiled roof. A modern single-storey extension at the rear features a roof that is partly flat and partly tiled. The interior has been altered but retains a bread oven within the main ground floor room.
