Description

Cranborne War Memorial is a stone structure built in the interwar period. It features a small Latin cross with a decorative floriated crosshead that rises from a moulded collar on an octagonal shaft. This is set on a square plinth, which stands on a two-stepped base.

The east face of the plinth has an incised inscription that reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN/ PROUD AND GRATEFUL MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE/ THEIR LIVES FOR ENGLAND’S HONOUR/ 1914 – 1918./ (NAMES)." The south face includes the dedication "1939 – 1945/ (NAMES)."
