Description

No. 165, Fortuneswell is an early 19th-century house at the end of a row, set at right angles to the main road. The house is constructed of rubble, some of which has been rendered, with slate roofs. The main front faces northwest into a narrow alleyway, and it is a two-windowed, three-storey building. The windows are 16-pane sashes with stone sills, and they are set within brick segmental arches on the first and second floors, with a stone lintel to the ground floor. A semicircular brick arch sits above a 20th-century door with a fanlight. A three-storey, single-windowed range extends to the rear, enclosing a small courtyard that faces Coastguard Road. This rear range, and the return wing, also feature 16-pane sashes, and a brick stack is visible to the left.
