Description
The Barn House, located at No 89 Newland, is a late 18th century to early 19th century two-storey building with a pebble dashed front featuring five windows and rusticated pilasters. It has a slate gabled roof and four segmental headed dormers. The upper windows are three panes wide, while the lower windows are three panes wide and four panes wide. There is a stone doorway in the fourth bay from the left, which has flat pilasters and an entablature. In front of the house, there is a dwarf wall made of ashlar and early 19th century cast iron railings with coved finials. The railings extend outward from the doorway to the gate. The Barn House is part of a group that includes No 31 Newland, the east range of Sherborne House, the front and rear garden walls of Sherborne House, No 41 The Manor House, three cottages next to The Manor House, two adjoining cottages, Nos 57 to 93 (odd), and the north-east boundary wall to Newland Close.
