Description
Newland Close is a detached house from the early 19th century, standing two storeys tall with three windows. It features a slate gabled roof and a painted roughcast front. The house has sash windows set in reveals, with the upper windows having three panes wide with blind covers, while the lower window is four panes wide in reveals. A projecting Tuscan porch made of painted stone adds to its character.
Attached to the east return wall of the house is a dwarf wall and railings that extend across the front. The low ashlar dwarf wall is complemented by early 19th-century railings, which are similar in style to those at No. 91. The railings have spear-shaped finials and standards placed at intervals.
Newland Close is part of a group that includes No. 31 Newland, the east range of Sherborne House, the front and rear garden walls of Sherborne House, No. 41, The Manor House, three cottages next to The Manor House, two adjoining cottages, Nos. 57 to 93 (odd), and the north-east boundary wall to Newland Close.
