Description
A terrace of three cottages, probably dating from the early 19th century, located on South Street, Corfe Castle. The cottages are constructed of rubble stone with stone slate roofs. Number 9, at the left end, has a brick stack at the left end. It is two storeys high and features a ledged door with a small glass panel. The ground floor has two casements with a central horizontal glazing bar, all under stone lintels. The first floor has two similar casements. A ground floor window is blocked at the right end.
Number 10, in the centre, shares a brick stack with Number 9 at the left end, and another with Number 11 at the right end. It has one storey and an attic. A part-glazed panelled door provides access. The ground floor features two casements with horizontal glazing bars, also under stone lintels. The attic has two gabled part-dormers with similar casements. A doorway is blocked at the right end.
Number 11, at the right end, shares a stone stack with Number 10 and has another at the right end. It is also one storey and has an attic. It has a part-glazed panelled door. The ground floor has two casements, one with glazing bars and one with horizontal glazing bars. The attic has two gabled dormers with casements and glazing bars, all under stone lintels. A lean-to extension, matching the original construction, is attached at the right end. This terrace demonstrates group value, contributing to the character of the area.
