Description

A block of four cottages, likely dating from the early 19th century, with the south end rebuilt around 1960 following war damage. The cottages are constructed of rubble stone with stone slate roofs. Nos. 6 and 7 form a pair, while Nos. 5 and 8 project as a rear wing, which may originally have been a single cottage with flying freeholds. The building features stone end and central stacks, a brick stack at the junction of the main range and rear wing, and a stone stack at the end of the wing.

No. 6, at the left end, has no windows facing the road front, but features a part-glazed panelled door and one first-floor casement in the left gable wall. No. 7, at the right end, has a part-glazed panelled door on the front, with two casements on the ground floor beneath stone relieving arches. The first floor has three casements, one with glazing bars, one with a central horizontal glazing bar, and one with a top-hung vent. Two gabled dormers with casements featuring a central horizontal bar are present in the attic.

Nos. 5 and 8, in the rear wing, are also two storeys and attic. The south wall of the wing has a ledged door with a small glass panel (leading to No. 5), with the upper part of the wall plastered. A ledged door (leading to No. 8) is on the north wall. The ground floor of the wing has two casements with central horizontal glazing bars under stone relieving arches. Two similar casements with wood lintels are on the first floor. A single gabled dormer with casements featuring glazing bars sits in the attic. A small, matching lean-to addition is located at the outer end of the wing.
