Description

No 1 Lower Sturthill is a detached cottage dating from the 18th century. It features rubble stone walls and a corrugated-iron roof, which likely covers thatch. The cottage is two storeys high and has three windows, which are two- and three-light wooden casements with glazing bars. The windows have wooden lintels and concrete sills. The entrance is a plank door located at the center, framed with heavy wooden framing and topped with a large wooden lintel. Inside, the cottage has flagstone floors throughout and heavy-chamfered ceiling beams. There is an attached outhouse at the right-hand gable end.
