Description
Old Mill House is a 17th-century house that underwent alterations around 1800. It is constructed of colour-washed coursed rubble and features a tiled roof with stone slate verges and gable ends. The house has one end stack and another stack to the right of the front door. It is two storeys high and has a four-window range.
On the ground floor, the left side has a 19th-century three-light sash window with vertical glazing bars, set in a moulded architrave beneath a wooden lintel. The two windows on the right are three-light wooden casements, each positioned under segmental stone arches. The upper floor features a mix of two, three, and four-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. The front door, which has moulded architraves, is located beneath a 20th-century open porch.
At the rear of the house, there is a former stable range, and a fire insurance plaque is mounted on the wall. Despite significant alterations, the house seems to have originally been designed as a three-room cross passage plan, with the stack positioned against the cross passage.
