Description
The Dorchester Meat Company Mess Room and Store is a building from the 17th or 18th century located on Kings Road. It is constructed from colour-washed limestone rubble, with the west side rendered. The roof is pitched and covered with pantiles, hipped at the south end. There are contemporary brick stacks without pots, featuring slates placed to shelter the flue. The building has two storeys and three ranges of windows; the first-floor windows have stone mullions and a hollow chamfer, while the ground-floor windows are modern. The steep gable end is topped with a tall stack on the east side, a characteristic often seen in 17th-century country houses in Dorset. This building is part of a group with other listed buildings on the east side of Kings Road, including Fordington House and the farm buildings in Athelstan Road.
