Description

Fordington House entrance gates are dated to the mid-18th century. They consist of ashlar piers topped with ball finials. The house itself is stuccoed and two storeys with attics. The facade features seven sash windows with glazing bars, with three windows in the centre being cased. The central three bays project slightly and are topped by a modillioned pediment. An eaves cornice displays modillions and an egg-and-dart moulding. The attic dormers are flanked by half-columns. An early 19th century west wing, two storeys high with seven windows and a trellis verandah, is constructed of red brick to the north side. Fordington House forms a notable group with other listed buildings along the east side of Kings Road and the farm buildings on Athelstan Road.
