Description
The Old Orchard is a house dating from the 16th century, with 18th century additions. It features coursed rubble walls topped with a thatched roof and has a central stone chimney stack. The building is a single storey with an attic and displays irregular window arrangements, including two eyebrow dormers. The windows are a mix of casements with glazing bars and leaded-lights, and have wooden lintels. The doorway is designed with a segmental arch. The layout consists of a three-room cross passage plan, with the chimney stack positioned against the cross passage. Inside, there are several notable features, such as deep chamfered beams and wall plates, a doorway with shouldered chamfered jambs, a fireplace with a chamfered bressummer and jambs, and three cruck trusses.
