Description
1, 2, and 3 Duck Street are two attached cottages, originally three, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. They feature rubble-stone walls that are rendered and have a thatched roof with gable ends. The cottages have four brick stacks at the ridge, with one on the right side dating from the 20th century. The buildings are 1½ storeys high and have seven windows, which are renewed two-light wooden casements with glazing bars, although some leaded lights in the upper windows remain. The dormers have thatch that sweeps over from the cill level. The front doors are located on the gable end wall at the east end, specifically at the west end of the row (No 3), and both doors are wooden. Inside, No 1 features cruck construction, and the fireplaces back onto each other, formerly serving Nos 1 and 2, with wooden lintels above that have straight-chamfered segmental heads.
