Description
The Churchyard Cross, located 7 metres north-west of the tower of the Church of St Mary, is a Grade I listed structure from the late 15th century, made of Ham stone. It features two high-stepped octagonal plinths with moulded edges. Above these is an octagonal pedestal adorned with panelled angle-piers, a moulded edge, and quatrefoiled panels on its four main faces, which enclose shields, a patera, and an angel holding a scroll. The cross has an octagonal tapering shaft that displays weathered figures on the east and west faces, depicting the Virgin and Child, and a man, possibly St John the Baptist. These figures are set on brackets with trefoiled canopies. There are dowel-holes on the north and south faces, along with remains of a canopy on the south face.
