Description

The Royal Oak is a public house located on Lower Street in Okeford Fitzpaine, dating from the early 19th century, with an addition on the left side. The building is constructed of brick in English bond, featuring some flared headers, and has a tiled roof with brick stacks at both ends of the original range. The original facade is symmetrical and consists of two storeys with a four-window range, including the extension. The ground floor on the left side has a 20th-century shop front with glazing bars, while above it is a 19th-century four-pane sash window. The original range features three-light casements, with full glazing bars on the upper parts, except for the central upper floor window, which is a similar two-light window. There is also a 20th-century porch with a glazed door and a rubble rear wing.
