Description

Bonfield's Store is a house with an attached wool store located on the south side of Fore Street in Thorncombe. The building dates from the 18th century, with a probable core from the 17th century. It features rubble walls that are covered with pebble-dash rendering and has an asbestos tile roof with gabled ends. There are wooden doors positioned to the left and right of the center. The structure is two stories tall and has three windows across its front.

On the ground floor, there is a disused shop front that includes a wooden fascia and large glass panels. The first floor has sash windows with wooden glazing bars and frames. Inside, there is a deep-chamfered beam with tongued stops and a large open fireplace with a wooden lintel above it. The attached building at the rear has rubble walls with 18th-century brick dressings and a corrugated iron roof. It features four windows, each with a concrete lintel above. Bonfield's Store is part of a group of buildings located in the village center.
