Description

This is likely an 18th-century building, originally comprising two houses. The northern section, which fronts Cornmarket, is three storeys high. The ground floor is rendered, while the upper storeys are brick, colourwashed. The roof is tiled, with brick stacks also colourwashed. A plat band runs along the first floor, and a moulded plat band is located at the second floor level. The ground floor entrance features a six-panel raised panel door within a decorative classical surround, including fretwork to the frieze and an ogee-shaped hood supported by carved console brackets. To the north of the door is a canted-bay window, likely added later, with glazing bars. The first and second floors each contain two double-hung sash windows; glazing bars remain in the upper sashes. The southern section, of two storeys, has a gable end facing Cornmarket. The ground floor of this section features a canted shop window with glazing bars, probably dating to the 19th century. The first floor has two double-hung sash windows with arched heads. The elevation facing Cook Row has two modern doors on the ground floor.
