Description
The Three Lions Inn, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, features rendered walls and a tiled roof. It stands two storeys tall with attics. The ground floor has double entrance doors, one of which is now blocked, beneath a flat stone moulded canopy supported by shaped brackets. The canopy displays three sculptured lions, possibly made of Coade Stone. On the West Street elevation, the ground floor includes two double hung sash windows with glazing bars and raised plaster surrounds, while the first floor has two similar windows.
Number 23a, which is adjacent to the Inn, has a central door resembling that of the Inn, featuring a six-panel flush panel design. To the right of this door, a window has been altered to create a second doorway, which is now blocked. To the left, there is a double hung sash window similar to those in the Inn but without glazing bars. The first floor of 23a also has two similar windows without glazing bars, and the facade has raised plaster quoins at each end. The attic contains four dormers with hipped roofs and casements that include glazing bars.
On the west elevation, facing Victoria Road, there is a doorway with a pedimented hood on console brackets. The ground floor features three double hung sash windows with raised plastered surrounds and glazing bars, along with a second doorway that is blocked. The first floor mirrors the ground floor with three similar windows. At the rear, there is a two-storey extension with brick walls and a tiled roof.
