Description

SY 49 NW BETTISCOMBE 6/11 Lower House Farmhouse and Vale End GV II Farmhouse, now two attached properties. C17, C18 and later. Rubble-stone walls with stone quoins. Thatch roof with hipped ends. Three brick stacks, one at each hip, and one on top of protruding front stack. Plan: of cross-passage type, with protruding front stack immediately right of front door. Now divided in two, with separate doors at former rear of house. Originally an L-Plan with cross-wing at top end. Two storeys. Six windows: modern casements with glazing-bars of 2 and 3-lights. Three casements with small leaded panes. Flush-panelled door, left of stack. Interior: fireplace embrasure, now blocked. Left hand end of house is a one-bay extension of original house.
