Description

Apsley House is a house built in 1815, now standing alone due to the demolition of adjacent properties. It features squared and coursed cut stone with a slate roof that has a clay tile ridge. The house has a double-depth plan with a passage leading to a rear stair hall. It is two storeys high with an attic and has two windows on the front. The windows are 4-paned horned sashes set in raised plat-band architraves. The central door, which is from the 20th century, is located under a lead-covered tent hood supported by 20th-century stone cheeks. The rear of the house has 4-paned sashes and a central dormer with a raked slate roof above paired 4-pane sashes. There is a brick stack on the left gable.
