Description

The Arcade is a single-storey shop building dated 1896, located on the north side of High Street. It features Purbeck Stone walls and a slate roof that is hidden behind a parapet. The building has a projecting arcade facing High Street, supported by three arches carried on Tuscan columns, with carved heads in the spandrels. The east elevation is adorned with a pediment that rises from the parapet and is complemented by console brackets. Below this is a "Tudor" style entrance door. The Arcade was likely designed as a prominent feature at the junction of High Street and Kings Road East.
