Description

Cairn Cottage, located in Newland, is a 19th-century building that was formerly shown as three cottages. The building is constructed of stone rubble with a slate gabled roof. It has two storeys. Each section of the cottage originally had two windows on the upper floor and one window to the left and a doorway to the right on the ground floor. The windows are two-light wooden casements with small panes, although the glazing bars are largely missing from the ground floor windows of the cottages at numbers 73 and 75. Number 77 has a segmental headed sash window. The doors are plain and modern. Cairn Cottage forms a group with No. 31 Newland, the east range of Sherborne House, the front and rear garden walls of Sherborne House, No. 41, The Manor House, three cottages next to The Manor House, two adjoining cottages, numbers 57 to 93 (odd), and the north-east boundary wall to Newland Close.
