Description
The Lodge is an early 19th-century villa located on Beaminster Tunnel Road. It features stone walls that are stuccoed, with a stone plinth and rusticated quoins. The building has a moulded stone cornice and a plain parapet, topped with a slate roof that has stone gable copings. There are four chimney stacks at the side-wall eaves serving the front and back rooms. This double-depth house is two storeys tall and has a symmetrical facade with five sash windows that include glazing bars, stone cills, and wooden-reeded surrounds. The front door is centrally located and made of wood, featuring flush and recessed panels, panelled reveals, and a rounded head. It is framed by a reeded door surround with fluted pilaster capitals and a pilaster head, which is keyed at the centre. Above the door is a semi-circular fanlight with curvilinear glazing bars. The entrance is accentuated by a stone portico supported by Roman Doric stone columns and pilasters, along with a plain entablature.
