Description

Nos 2 and 4 High Street, known as Marine Villas, were built in 1825 by William Morton Pitt as Baths, Billiard and Coffee Rooms, designed by Charles Wallis of Dorchester. They are now a pair of semi-detached villas in the Regency style, featuring rendered walls and low-pitched slate roofs. The buildings are two storeys high with slightly projecting bays at each end, which have arched recesses. There are three six-panelled doors with trellised porches and two round-headed windows on the ground floor, along with four plain-headed windows on the first floor. All windows were originally double-hung sashes with glazing bars, although some have been replaced with modern versions.
