Description
The Rookery, built around 1830 by William Morton Pitt, originally served as a Custom House and Library. This two-storey building features a basement, with rendered walls and a low-pitched slate roof. The main façade facing Seymer Road includes four windows on the first floor and three windows along with an entrance door on the ground floor. The windows at the north end on both floors are blocked. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The entrance doorway is adorned with a classical pedimented hood, reeded pilasters, and a fanlight. There are later conservatories added to the north and east sides of the building.
