Description
This is a late 18th to early 19th century building, originally comprising three storeys and an attic, and now numbers 55 and 57 Broad Street. It has a Mansard roof covered in slate, with two dormers visible. The building has three window bays, featuring a cornice and parapet, as well as a plain stringcourse. The front is rendered, and contains sash windows, although the ground floor now has modern shop windows. A carriageway exists at the right-hand end, leading to a fielded panelled door with a decorative knocker. To the right of the carriageway, and set back to align with number 55, is another door with six fielded panels and a semi-circular fanlight above. Number 57 forms part of the rear range of number 55, with its own Mansard roof and sash windows with glazing bars. It also has a fielded panelled door with an angel-head knocker. The carriageway features an early 19th century segmental arch, with reeded details and corbel blocks ornamented with roundels. Numbers 45 to 65 Broad Street are grouped together.
